Vrijdag 8 september jl. is Zuid Marokko getroffen door een zeer zware aardbeving. Twee teeltbedrijven van ons Marokkaans zusterbedrijf Quality Citrus Marokko liggen ten zuiden van het getroffen gebied, in Taroudant.

De medewerkers die op deze twee teeltbedrijven werken, wonen in de regio Taroudant en hebben direct te maken met de impact van deze aardbeving. Helaas heeft de aardbeving veel slachtoffers geëist, het verdriet is groot. Zoals u op het nieuws heeft kunnen zien, is er veel materiele schade, duizenden woningen en gebouwen zijn zwaar beschadigd. Velen slachtoffers zijn dakloos, meer dan 500 scholen zijn beschadigd en goede zorg kan niet worden geboden.

De collega’s in Marokko zijn direct begonnen met het verlenen van hulp, zowel financieel als materieel. Fresh2You is vandaag, in samenwerking met Quality Citrus Marokko, met acties gestart, waarbij zowel voor de korte als de lange termijn financiële steun wordt geboden.

De familie van Oers is al 20 jaar actief in Marokko en heeft lokaal een netwerk opgebouwd dat snel kan zorgen dat de hulp op de juiste plaats komt. We kiezen er daarom bewust voor om de besteding van de donaties, lokaal in eigen hand te houden, zodat wij heel gericht hulp kunnen bieden. De collega’s in Marokko coördineren de acties. 

Op de korte termijn worden de donaties gebruikt voor de aanschaf van eerste levensbehoeften voor de slachtoffers. Hierbij moet u denken aan de aanschaf van tenten en slaapzakken. De koude periode is in aantocht, de eerste volle truck met slaapzakken vertrekt deze week al bij Fresh2You. Waar mogelijk kopen wij het materiaal lokaal in Marokko.

Voor de middellange termijn worden de donaties gebruikt voor de wederopbouw van de getroffen regio. Wij willen hier uiteraard zo veel mogelijk geld voor ophalen. Wilt u als partner van Fresh2You een financiële bijdrage leveren? Dat kan!

We help the victims of the earthquake! Do you help as well?

Friday 8 september, south Morocco was hit by a severe earthquake. Two farms of the Moroccan sister company Quality Citrus Morocco are located in Taroudant, south of the affected Area. 

The employees who work at these two crop farms live in the Taroudant region and are directly affected by the impact of this earthquake. Unfortunately, the earthquake has claimed many victims and there is great sadness. 

As you might have seen on the news, there is a lot of material damage, thousands of homes and buildings are severely damaged. Many victims are homeless, more than 500 schools have been damaged and proper care cannot be provided. 

Quality Citrus Morocco started with assistance immediately, both financially and materially. In addition, Fresh2You, in collaboration with Quality Citrus Morocco, has started actions that offer both short- and long-term financial support. 

The Van Oers family, active in Morocco for 20 years, has built up a local network that can quickly ensure that help reaches the right place. We therefore consciously choose to keep the expenditure of donations locally in our own hands, so that we can provide very specific help. 

In the short term, the donations will be used to purchase basic needs for the victims. You can think of purchasing tents and sleeping bags. The cold winter period is about to arrive so the first full truck with sleeping bags will leave Fresh2You this week. Where possible we buy the relief supplies locally in Morocco. 

In the medium term, the donations will be used for the reconstruction of the affected region. We obviously want to raise as much money as possible to use for this purpose. Would you, as a Fresh2You partner, like to make a financial contribution as well? That’s possible!
