My name is Salem Thabet. I was studying computer engineering, dreaming of graduating, finding a job, and building a safe future for my family. But the war changed everything.

Now, my studies have stopped. Our lives have stopped. I can't afford tuition. My future feels lost in pain and uncertainty.

We lived a simple life, not rich, but we had peace and security. Then the war came. It took everything: our home, our dreams, our safety. My brothers were injured in the bombing. We fled, leaving everything behind. No home. No clothes. No food. Just suffering. Then, our house was bombed.

Now, we struggle to survive. We walk long distances to fetch water. There is no soap, no food, and no clean water. Prices have skyrocketed, and we can barely get by.

My father, 75, has high blood pressure and has suffered three strokes. He needs medicine for $30 (28 EUR) a week. My mother has a thyroid disease and has had five hand surgeries. I have a heart condition. My brothers were badly injured in the war—one’s artery was torn, the other’s kidney and liver were damaged by shrapnel.

I was engaged, but I had no home, no money, and no way to move forward.

I just want to finish my studies, help my parents, support my siblings, and build a shelter for my wife and me.
