Wie is Marwa?

Marwa Al-Khatib is een moeder uit Jabalia, in het noorden van Gaza. Zij vecht momenteel voor haar leven. In korte tijd onderging zij meerdere spoedoperaties vanwege ernstige interne bloedingen als gevolg van vergevorderde levercirrose. Tijdens deze ingrepen ontdekten artsen een agressieve leverkanker die zich snel had verspreid en een deel van haar lever had aangetast.

Om haar leven te redden, moest Marwa dringend een complexe leveroperatie ondergaan in een privéziekenhuis, omdat openbare ziekenhuizen deze ingrepen niet meer kunnen uitvoeren. Zij heeft de operatie overleefd, maar bevindt zich nu in een zeer kwetsbare fase van herstel en kankeropvolging.

❤️ Waarom steun dringend nodig is

Door de instorting van het medische systeem in Gaza moet Marwa zelf instaan voor de kosten van:

postoperatieve medicatie

antibiotica en pijnbestrijding

bloedonderzoek en medische beeldvorming

oncologische nazorg

wondverzorging en noodmonitoring

Zonder deze zorg is haar leven ernstig in gevaar.

Marwa heeft jarenlang anderen geholpen — wezen, weduwen en gezinnen in nood. Tijdens de oorlog verkocht zij zelfs haar auto en persoonlijke bezittingen om anderen te steunen.

Nu is zij degene die hulp nodig heeft.

Tot nu toe is haar behandeling voornamelijk mogelijk gemaakt door individuele donaties. Helaas raken deze middelen uitgeput, terwijl de medische kosten blijven doorgaan.

Elke bijdrage, hoe klein ook, maakt een verschil.

Who is Marwa?

Marwa Al-Khatib is a mother from Jabalia, in northern Gaza, who is fighting for her life. In a very short period, she underwent multiple emergency surgeries due to severe internal bleeding caused by advanced liver cirrhosis. During these procedures, doctors discovered an aggressive liver cancer that had spread rapidly and damaged part of her liver.

To save her life, Marwa urgently had to undergo a complex liver surgery in a private hospital, as public hospitals can no longer perform such procedures. She survived the operation but is now in a very fragile phase of recovery and cancer follow-up.

❤️ Why urgent support is needed

Due to the collapse of Gaza’s medical system, Marwa must personally cover the costs of:

post-surgery medication

antibiotics and pain treatment

blood tests and medical imaging

cancer follow-up care

wound care and emergency monitoring

Without this care, her life is at serious risk.

For years, Marwa supported others — orphans, widows, and families in need. During the war, she even sold her car and personal belongings to help others.

Now she is the one in need of support.

So far, her treatment has been mainly sustained by individual donations. Unfortunately, these resources are now running low, while medical expenses continue.
