After October 7, Numan’s family’s life in Gaza was completely shattered.

What was once a stable family home—a three-story house filled with memories, safety, and daily life—was entirely destroyed during the escalation. In a single moment, the family lost their home, their belongings, and the sense of security they had built over many years. With nowhere to go, they were forced into repeated displacement, moving from one unsafe area to another in search of survival.

As the humanitarian situation rapidly deteriorated, tragedy struck the family in an unimaginable way. Two of Numan’s brothers lost their lives due to the severe lack of medicines and medical treatment. Hospitals were overwhelmed, essential drugs were unavailable, and the continued closure of the Rafah border crossing prevented them from accessing urgent, life-saving care. Their deaths were not due to incurable illnesses—but due to the absence of basic medical support.

The family’s suffering did not stop there. The father, the sole provider for the household, lost his only source of income. He depended entirely on a poultry farm to support his family, but the farm was destroyed, leaving him without work, income, or any means to provide food for his children. With no savings and no opportunities to earn a living under siege, the family fell into extreme poverty almost overnight.

Today, Numan’s family is living in a tent under extremely harsh conditions. They face constant hunger, food shortages, and a lack of clean water. Daily meals are uncertain, and basic necessities have become luxuries. Life in the tent offers no protection from cold, heat, or rain, and the family endures these conditions while grieving their losses and struggling to survive.

Displacement has stripped them not only of their home, but of stability, dignity, and hope. Like many families in Gaza, they are caught in an ongoing humanitarian crisis where access to food, medicine, shelter, and safety is increasingly limited.
