Bijdrage schooltje in Gambia

Available in:  Dutch

Met o.a.

During our stay in The Gambia, we wanted to visit a school.  This was arranged by our guide Yaya who tries to help this school with all possibilities to provide the best possible education.  Including teaching material, fruit and everything needed to help these young people.  Which we think is the most normal thing in the world.  But let me tell you that tears came to my eyes when I saw the conditions of this building and how the children still brought us in as king and queen with their big laugh and singing.  The school has 4 walls and a roof where the holes fall in.  Has no toilet, girls and boys have to relieve themselves in the open air next to the building, there is no kitchen or opportunity to make food at lunchtime for these children.  There is a small storage area where teaching materials are located, including Paper which is damp from the leakage.  All in all a dull misery.  I know of course that we here in the Netherlands also have the necessary problems and that there are enough people who live close to the poverty line.  But with your help, even if it is only 5 euro or dollar, we can still try to realize the right facilities.  If you consider that building a toilet and kitchen in The Gambia costs about 5000 euros, that makes a world of difference.  I hope for your support.  Thank you on behalf of Yaya (Gambia Santuso Tours) and all the kids
