EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Lamin Health Center, a non-profit community institution, was officially opened in the year 1994, and was since inception in the forefront of providing essential health care services, ranging from outpatient department (OPD), inpatient and reproductive and child health services.

The Health facility was in the last ten years given a facelift by the instalment of a new management to run the affairs of the facility up to date.

The facility has since then became a household name in the provision of quality and essential health care services in the West coast Region and beyond. The facility covers more than 20 communities in Kombo North and receives patients from the length and breadth of the country.

Hence we pride ourselves to be second to none in terms of quality health care provision within the country. It’s against this backdrop that, on behalf of the management of Lamin Health Center and the entire catchment area population are seeking funding support to enhance its blood transfusion services and establish a surgical theatre. The center aims to provide safe and reliable blood transfusions and surgical services to patients in need, while adhering to stringent testing and safety protocols. This proposal outlines our funding requirements and plans for utilizing the funds to support our blood transfusion services and surgical theatre.

INTRODUCTION
Lamin Health Center is a community-based health facility dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to the local population. Our blood transfusion services and surgical theatre will play a critical role in saving lives and improving health outcomes, and we are committed to ensuring the safety and efficacy of these services.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To secure funding support for the procurement of reagents, test kits, and theatre materials for our blood transfusion services and surgical unit.
  2. To establish a fully functional surgical theatre, equipped with necessary equipment and supplies.
  3. To enhance the safety and efficacy of our blood transfusion services and surgical theatre, while ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
  4. To increase access to safe blood transfusions and surgical services for patients in need, particularly those from vulnerable populations.

IMPORTANCE OF A FULLY EQUIP THEATRE
A fully equipped surgical theatre is essential for providing quality healthcare services to our patients. The theatre will enable us to perform a range of surgical procedures, from emergency surgeries to elective procedures, in a safe and controlled environment. This will not only improve health outcomes but also reduce the risk of complications and mortality.

Having a fully equipped theatre will also enable us to:
a) Provide timely and effective surgical interventions, which can significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality rates.
b) Enhance patient safety by ensuring that all surgical procedures are performed in a sterile and controlled environment, with adequate equipment and supplies.
c) Increase access to surgical services for patients in need, particularly those from vulnerable populations who may not have access to these services otherwise.
d) Support the training and capacity building of our staff, enabling them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality surgical services.
e) Improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare services, by reducing the need for referrals to other facilities and enabling us to provide a wider range of services to our patients.

Some of the key benefits of having a fully equipped surgical theatre include

  • Reduced morbidity and mortality rates
  • Improved patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • Increased access to surgical services for vulnerable population
  • Enhanced staff training and capacity building
  • Improved efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services

Overall, a fully equipped surgical theatre is a critical component of our healthcare services, and we believe that it will have a significant impact on the health and well-being of our patients.

  • Theatre and other essential supplies
  • Equipment
  • Supplies (e.g. surgical gloves, gowns, sutures)
  • Training and capacity building for staff

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
We plan to utilize the funding support as follows:

  1. Procurement of reagents and test kits to ensure the safety and efficacy of our blood transfusion services.
  2. Establishment of the surgical theatre, including procurement of equipment and supplies.
  3. Training and capacity building for our staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in blood transfusion services and surgical procedures.
  4. Monitoring and evaluation of our blood transfusion services and surgical theatre to ensure compliance with national and international standards.

SUSTAINABILITY AND IMPACT
We believe that this funding support will have a significant impact on our ability to provide safe and reliable blood transfusions and surgical services to patients in need. We are committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of our services through:

  1. Cost-effective procurement and management of reagents, test kits, and supplies.
  2. Continuous training and capacity building for our staff.
  3. Partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders to support our services.

CONCLUSION
