We hebben jullie dringend nodig.

Dit is opnieuw één van de moeilijkste berichten die ik ooit heb moeten schrijven.

Mijn papa is 67 jaar en woont sinds enkele maanden in Thailand. Eindelijk kon hij van zijn pensioen genieten. Hij vertrok uit België in goede gezondheid, maar zijn toestand is de afgelopen weken razendsnel achteruitgegaan.

Vandaag is zijn toestand zo ernstig geworden dat hij met de ambulance naar het ziekenhuis is afgevoerd. Zijn gezondheid is momenteel kritiek.

Op dit moment gaat het niet meer om een gewone medische behandeling of een onderzoek dat rustig kan worden gepland. Hij heeft dringend medische zorg nodig.

💔 We lopen financieel volledig vast

Mijn papa heeft in Thailand een medische verzekering. De verzekeraar heeft zijn dossier momenteel in onderzoek en heeft ons laten weten dat er nog geen definitieve beslissing over de dekking is genomen. Ze blijven het op de lange baan schuiven terwijl er geen enkele aanleiding is om zijn dossier te weigeren. 

Papa kan niet wachten tot verzekeringsprocedures zijn afgerond.

Daarbovenop blijven de ziekenhuis-, onderzoeks- en behandelingskosten oplopen en zitten we ondertussen al aan €30.000.

we willen maar één ding – dat papa de zorg krijgt die hij nodig heeft – maar de kosten blijven zich opstapelen terwijl zijn toestand steeds kritieker wordt.

Ons doel: papa naar huis brengen

We willen papa eerst zo goed mogelijk laten stabiliseren. Zodra de artsen aangeven dat hij veilig kan reizen, willen we hem zo snel mogelijk naar België laten terugkeren, zodat hij hier verder onderzocht en behandeld kan worden.

De kosten hiervoor kunnen aanzienlijk zijn, zeker als hij medische begeleiding of een medische repatriëring nodig heeft.

Daarom vragen wij nu, met heel veel tegenzin maar ook met heel veel hoop, om jullie hulp.

Elke bijdrage kan het verschil maken

Alle bijdragen worden gebruikt voor:

• de dringende ziekenhuis- en behandelingskosten in Thailand;
• noodzakelijke onderzoeken en medische zorgen;
• medicatie en verdere stabilisatie;
• en, zodra hij medisch stabiel genoeg is, de kosten om papa veilig naar België te brengen.

Our dad’s health is currently critical and he needs urgent medical care.

We urgently need your help.

This is yet another one of the most difficult messages I have ever had to write.

My dad is 67 years old and has been living in Thailand for a few months. He was finally able to enjoy his retirement. He left Belgium in good health, but his condition has deteriorated rapidly over the past few weeks.

Today, his condition has become so serious that he was taken to hospital by ambulance. His health is currently critical.

At this point, it is no longer a matter of routine medical treatment or a test that can be scheduled at a convenient time. He needs urgent medical care.

💔 We are completely at a financial dead end.

My dad has medical insurance in Thailand. The insurer is currently reviewing his claim and has informed us that no final decision on cover has yet been made. They keep putting it on the back burner, even though there is absolutely no reason to reject his claim.

Dad cannot wait for the insurance procedures to be finalised.

On top of that, the hospital, examination and treatment costs keep mounting up, and we’ve already reached €30,000.

We want just one thing – for Dad to receive the care he needs – but the costs keep piling up whilst his condition is becoming increasingly critical.

Our goal: to bring Dad home

First, we want to stabilise Dad as much as possible. As soon as the doctors give the all-clear for him to travel safely, we want to bring him back to Belgium as quickly as possible so that he can undergo further tests and treatment here.

The costs involved could be substantial, especially if he requires medical supervision or medical repatriation.

That is why we are now asking, with great reluctance but also with great hope, for your help.
