Help BirdPark Malta Rebuild After the Devastating Explosion

On June 1st 2026, a massive firework factory explosion near BirdPark Malta caused severe damage to the sanctuary and deeply impacted the animals, staff, volunteers, and the entire community.

The explosion shockwave damaged aviaries, fences, shelters, windows, and essential infrastructure throughout the park. Several birds sadly did not survive the incident, while others escaped in panic or suffered injuries and severe stress.

BirdPark Malta has always been more than just a tourist attraction. It is a sanctuary built with love, care, and dedication for rescued birds and animals — many of which cannot survive in the wild. The park has spent years educating visitors, caring for animals in need, and creating a safe environment for both wildlife and families.

Today, they urgently need your help.

Together with NedMalta, volunteers, friends of the park, and the local community, we are launching this fundraiser to help BirdPark Malta recover as quickly as possible and provide the animals with the safe environment they deserve.

Where the first donations will go

The first and most urgent priority is restoring safety and stability for the animals currently living at the park.

The donated funds will immediately help with:

• Repairing damaged aviaries and enclosures
• Replacing broken fencing and safety structures
• Emergency veterinary care for injured animals
• Food and daily care supplies
• Temporary shelters and secure holding areas
• Cleaning and removing dangerous debris
• Restoring water and electrical systems
• Improving safety measures to better protect the sanctuary in the future

As recovery continues, additional funds will also help rebuild larger damaged structures and improve the park for the long term.
