Verkrijgen Evkeeza voor de verlaging van de cholesterol
Gracienne suffers from familial cholesterol. She follows a strict diet and takes all available medications. In addition, she has now been receiving LDL Lipaferesis treatment since April 2023. This is a treatment that can be compared to kidney dialysis, the difference is that a different filter is used, which removes cholesterol from the blood. This treatment is repeated every 2 weeks. The treatment is done via a catheter that is directly connected to her heart. She tolerates the treatment very poorly and is constantly tired. There is now a drug released called Evkeeza. This medication is not reimbursed in Belgium. The treatment consists of administering 1 infusion per month. The price for 1 infusion is approximately €7630.
The concessionaire - Ultragenyx Germany - is considering submitting an application in Belgium. It will therefore take a while before the medication is reimbursed by the health insurance fund in Belgium.
According to her treating doctor, submitting an application to the BSF is useless...
Gracienne has already scheduled several stents. She has “porcelain” veins, which means there is a high risk of vein rupture.
She underwent open heart surgery in 2019, a hip replacement, and back surgery. The implantation of the hip prosthesis went wrong, causing her to have severe pain and difficulty walking.

Gracienne lijdt aan familiale cholesterol. Ze volgt een streng dieet en neemt alle beschikbare medicatie. Bovendien krijgt ze nu sinds april 2023 een LDL Lipaferese behandeling. Dit is een behandeling die te vergelijken is met nierdialyse, het verschil is dat hierbij een andere filter wordt gebruikt, waardoor de cholesterol uit het bloed wordt gehaald. Deze behandeling wordt om de 2 weken herhaald. De behandeling gebeurt via een katheter die rechtstreeks verbonden is met haar hart. Ze verdraagt de behandeling zeer slecht en is constant moe. Er is nu een medicijn uitgebracht genaamd Evkeeza. Deze medicatie wordt in België niet terugbetaald. De behandeling bestaat uit het toedienen van 1 infuus per maand. De prijs voor 1 infuus is ongeveer 7630€.
De concessiehouder - Ultragenyx Duitsland - overweegt om een aanvraag in te dienen in België. Het zal dus wel nog een tijdje duren tot de medicatie in België wordt terugbetaald door het ziekenfonds.
Een aanvraag indienen bij het BSF is volgens haar behandelende arts nutteloos…
Gracienne heeft al verschillende stents ingepland. Ze heeft “porseleinen“ aders waardoor de kans op aderbreuk groot is.
Ze heeft in 2019 een openhartoperatie ondergaan, heeft een heupprothese, en een rugoperatie ondergaan. De inplanting van de heupprothese is mislopen, waardoor ze hevige pijn heeft en moeilijk kan stappen.
