Help Me Keep My Husband Home as We Face Alzheimer's
My husband has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer's.A sudden €12,080 demand now puts our home at risk. Please help us stay.
UPDATE MAY 2026:
In 2024, many kind people helped us during one of the hardest periods of our lives. Thanks to that support, and years of hard work, we continued paying off our debts and reduced them from over €100,000 to just over €24,000.
We truly believed the end was in sight.
Last week my husband was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's. At the same time, one of our remaining creditors went bankrupt, and the liquidator is now demanding immediate payment of €12,080.
We have spent five years doing everything we could to take responsibility for our situation. We are not looking for a fresh start or an easy way out. We are simply trying to keep our home.
Alzheimer's has a way of changing your perspective. Suddenly, what matters most is time.
Time together while he still recognizes me, our family, our memories, and the life we built. For someone living with Alzheimer's, familiar surroundings provide stability, routine, and comfort. Home is one of the few things that can still help make sense of a world that gradually becomes more confusing.
We are asking for help with this final hurdle, so we can spend the years we have left together in the place he still knows as home.
Thank you for reading, sharing, or supporting our campaign.
Update DEC 2024
Thanks to a single incredibly generous donor, our debt with the Belastingdienst was paid in full.
This support allowed us to continue our repayment plans with our remaining creditors and gave us hope that we would eventually overcome the financial consequences of losing our businesses during COVID.
We remain deeply grateful for this kindness and wanted to make sure that everyone who supported us knows that their help truly made a difference.
---------------------------------------------------------My husband and I built our businesses and our life through years of hard work.
When COVID struck, both businesses collapsed. Customer bankruptcies, lost goods, cancelled contracts, and lockdowns left us with debts we never imagined we would face.
Rather than walk away from our responsibilities, we chose to fight.
We took every job we could find, learned new skills, cut every possible expense, sold what we could, and made payment arrangements wherever possible.
For five years we worked tirelessly to reduce our debts and rebuild our lives.
We were finally beginning to see a way forward.
Today, our greatest concern is no longer debt.
It is making sure that my husband can spend the years ahead in a familiar place where he feels safe, supported, and connected to the memories we have built together.
Any help, no matter the amount, brings us closer to keeping our home and preserving some stability during this difficult chapter of our lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Help Us Spend Christmas in Our Home, Not Homeless
Update:
After nearly a year of hard work, meetings and saving money, we’ve successfully reached payment agreements with all but one creditor, with the help of a great lawyer.
Unfortunately, the tax authorities are refusing to accept a payment plan for the remaining €14.811 ,rendering all our efforts to avoid loosing our home useless.
They are demanding full payment by December 1st or they will start the procedure to seize our home.
We’ve managed to save some money and offered it as a downpayment, but they are refusing an agreement.
Despite everything we tried and worked so hard for, we are still at risk of losing everything.
I am asking for your help to raise €9.811.Please find it in your heart to support us in this final, desperate effort.
We are praying for this little Christmas miracle to happen.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
