Nimbus, the Neighborhood's Sweetest Stray Facing Major Surgery. His jaw is broken and he is entirely unable to eat or drink.

Nimbus is a uniquely beautiful, fluffy, bear-like little cat who is 2 years old. He is one of the many stray cats that my husband and I care for in our neighborhood. Among all the cats, Nimbus stands out. He has an incredible, playful spirit. He is always teasing and playing all the other cats. He brings pure joy to our neighborhood.

A few days ago, this joyful spirit was crushed. Nimbus suffered a severe accident that left him in excruciating pain. The diagnosis broke our hearts: he has a mandibular condylar fracture (a complex fracture of his jaw joint). His jaw is severely misaligned, he cannot close his mouth, and he is entirely unable to eat or drink.

Living on the island of Lesvos (Mytilene) makes such specialized emergencies incredibly difficult. Local clinics lack the advanced surgical expertise required for this delicate joint reconstruction. Moving Nimbus to Athens in his critical and painful condition was simply too risky.

We refused to give up on him.

We reached out to one of the top veterinary orthopedic surgeons in Greece, Dr. Sotiris Mpagias (DVM, Cert.SAS). Recognizing the urgency and severity of Nimbus's case, Dr. Mpagias has agreed to travel from Athens to Mytilene this Sunday specifically to perform a complex, 2-hour reconstructive surgery on Nimbus.
