A Palestinian Family's Story: Fighting Cancer, Displacement, and the Struggle to Survive
My name is Jawad. I am a Palestinian from Gaza, currently living in Egypt with my father, who is battling advanced cancer.
Our family's life has been devastated by the war. We have lost our home, our agricultural land, and our main source of income. Today, our family is scattered between Egypt and Gaza, struggling to survive.
My Father Is Fighting Cancer
My father suffers from advanced sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma, a serious form of cancer affecting his nasal cavity and surrounding facial structures.
He is currently receiving treatment in Egypt, including radiation therapy. His condition requires continuous medical care, medication, medical supplies, hospital visits, and transportation.
My father is unable to work because of his illness. I am staying with him in Egypt and taking care of him alone. I accompany him to his medical appointments and help him with his daily needs.
We have no stable source of income, and the costs of accommodation, food, transportation, medication, and daily necessities have become extremely difficult to manage.
Ten Members of Our Family Are Still Displaced in Gaza
While my father and I are in Egypt, ten members of our family remain in Gaza.
Our family home was destroyed during the war, and our agricultural land was occupied. Agriculture was our family's main source of income, but we lost our land and our livelihood.
One of my brothers was also injured during the war.
Our relatives in Gaza are still living in extremely difficult conditions. They urgently need three winter-ready tents, along with blankets, mattresses, waterproof covers, food, clean drinking water, clothing, and other essential supplies to protect them from the winter weather.
My Dream of Becoming a Doctor
I am a medical student at Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Becoming a doctor has always been my dream.
Despite everything our family has endured, I do not want to give up on my education. However, my father's serious illness, our financial difficulties, and my responsibility to care for him have made continuing my medical studies extremely challenging.
I sincerely hope to find a compassionate sponsor who can support my medical education and help me complete my studies.
My dream is to become a doctor and one day use my knowledge to serve my family and my people in Gaza.
How Your Donations Will Help
We are seeking ongoing humanitarian support until the crisis ends and our family can rebuild a safe and stable life.
Your donations will help us with:
- My father's cancer treatment, medications, medical supplies, and hospital transportation.
- Accommodation, food, clothing, drinking water, and daily living expenses in Egypt.
- Three winter-ready tents and essential winter supplies for our ten displaced family members in Gaza.
- Food, clean water, clothing, shelter, and other basic necessities for our family in Gaza.
- Sponsorship of my medical education so I can continue studying and achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.
We are not asking for luxury. We are asking for a chance to survive with dignity, care for our sick father, protect our family, and preserve the future we still hope to build.
Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in our lives.
If you cannot donate, sharing our story with others would mean the world to us.
Thank you for standing with our family during this difficult time.
