Princesse Royal out of service due to an engine room fire
The sailing season got off to a difficult start for the Fluvius and the Princesse Royal. Technical problems, high water on the rivers ... improvisations were necessary. Two weeks ago, the Princesse Royal was underway on the Rhine. Because of the high water, some berths were difficult to reach. Guests had to walk barefoot through the water to get on board. One night they even had to be accommodated in a hotel. The ship also had to be towed by tugboat along the Lorerei, due to the strong current. So far it was an exciting but fun adventure.
But that adventure took a dramatic turn when, on the last night of the voyage, a fire started in the engine room during the farewell dinner. The crew quickly evacuated the guests and fortunately no personal accidents occurred.
But the heart of the Princesse Royal was severely damaged and in all likelihood the ship will not be able to sail again this season.
This is a huge blow to the ship's young entrepreneurs and owners, Roy and Johan. They will have to gather all their courage to face this tragedy and get the Princesse Royal sailing again.
Let us help them with a financial contribution to let them know that we sympathize and stand beside them.
