In many remote communities across northern Tanzania, girls as young as 9 years old are at risk of being forcibly mutilated and married off. For them, the threat is not a distant future it is today, it is tomorrow, and it is terrifyingly real.
At Every Child Counts, we meet these girls. We hear their cries. Some run in the middle of the night with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Some are handed over by their own families. All of them are searching for the same thing: safety, dignity, and a chance to just be children.
We are now raising funds to build a safe house a secure, confidential refuge for girls at immediate risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early child marriage. This will be more than just a shelter. It will be a place where traumatized girls can begin to heal, go back to school, receive counseling, and rebuild their futures free from fear.
But we cannot do this alone.
We urgently need your help to make this safe house a reality. Your donation will go directly towards:
- Building and furnishing the safe house
This is not just a building it is a lifeline. For every girl who finds shelter here, you are giving her a second chance at life.
Help us say “Not this girl. Not today.”
Together, we can build a future where no child has to run to be safe.
