From the athletics track to the ice track, and now the velodrome too
I'm Dora, 26 years old, and speed has been the common thread through my whole life. What started on the athletics track led me, years ago, to bobsled, where I've competed at the highest international level alongside my team (Belgian Bullets) for the past several years. From a bronze medal at the U23 World Championships in 2023 to the 2026 Olympic Games. But things didn't go as hoped: due to an administrative error by the federation, not a lack of level, we missed Olympic qualification. It still feels like unfinished business.
Instead of dwelling on it, I chose to challenge myself again. Since May, I've been training with the national track cycling team, a completely new discipline, with the same hunger that has already taken me further than many expected. My goal: LA 2028 on the track bike, and the French Alps 2030 with bobsled. Two Olympic dreams, four years, one and the same determination.
What few people know is that I finance all of this entirely on my own. Coaching, recovery and physiotherapy, equipment, travel to training, competition seasons abroad: it all comes out of my own pocket. I earned my master's degree at KU Leuven in Movement Sciences, and I also work as a coach, educator, speaker, and athletics commentator to help make it possible. But the reality is that training at the highest level in two disciplines at once comes at a cost that's hard to carry alone.
That's why this campaign. I'm incredibly grateful for every contribution, big or small. But what I'd love even more is to build lasting partnerships, ones where I can give something back too: visibility, content, my story as a brand ambassador, or another form of tailored collaboration. If you think there might be an opportunity like that, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected], I'd be glad to think through what could be valuable for both sides.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
