Kirsten Alting is een zangeres en songwriter met een eerlijk, krachtig geluid dat raakt. Haar eerste album bracht haar een nummer 1-hit in de Amerikaanse gospelcharts, een plek in de Top 10 van opkomende artiesten in Amerika én een Zilveren Duif-nominatie in NL.
Na jaren van stilte is ze nu terug met haar meest persoonlijke project tot nu toe: Tell it like it is – een album dat haar verhaal vertelt in muziek.
Door een zeldzame bindweefselziekte verloor Kirsten haar stem en lag ze jarenlang volledig bedlegerig. De verwachting was dat ze nooit meer zou zingen. Maar tegen alle medische inschattingen in kwam er herstel. Geen genezing – haar ziekte is nog altijd onderdeel van haar dagelijks leven – maar wél de kracht om weer te zingen, te lopen, te werken en op te treden.
Vandaag de dag is ze weer volop actief als artiest soms in rolstoel, en soms lopend maar altijd met haar trouwe hulphond Bindi aan haar zijde. Ze staat op diverse festivals, in oktober gaat ze op tournee door Nederland met haar eigen band.
Haar eerste album was puur country. Met dit tweede album voegt Kirsten nieuwe lagen toe aan haar geluid en de kwaliteit van muziek is echt next level. Tell it like it is is een unieke mix van country, bluegrass en Irish folk. De liedjes vertellen over hoop, doorzettingsvermogen, geloof en herstel – een geluid dat niet alleen raakt, maar ook verbindt, over grenzen heen.
De eerste single van dit album, Time for me to fly, wordt inmiddels wereldwijd op de radio gedraaid. De productie is in handen van NEO Music, een gerommeerde naam in de muziek en countrywereld, en met medewerking van topmuzikanten Gordon Mote (bekend van onder andere zijn samenwerkingen met Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood en Rascal flatts) met wie Kirsten samen de single Unlikelies opnam welke op nummer 1 terecht kwam. Maar ook fiddelaar Wanda Vick heeft haar medwerking toegezegt (bekend van onder andere samenwerkingen met Taylor Swift, Kenny Rodgers en Faith Hill) – namen die hun sporen ruimschoots verdiend hebben in Nashville en ver daarbuiten.
Tell it like it is is meer dan een muzikaal project. Het is het begin van een wereldwijde beweging. Kirsten wil muziek brengen naar plekken waar mensen het écht nodig hebben: ziekenhuizen, zorginstellingen, gesloten afdelingen, maar ook gewoon: bij mensen thuis. Ze weet hoe het voelt om daar te liggen. Stilte. Onzekerheid. En hoe krachtig muziek dan kan zijn. Met dit album wil ze die kracht teruggeven aan anderen. Daarnaast hoopt ze een voorbeeld te zijn voor mensen met handicaps om hun dromen na te jagen en zich niet door handicaps te laten belemmeren.
De opnames zijn al gestart. Het album komt er sowieso – gepland voor begin 2026 – maar er is nog €3000 nodig om het album op tijd en professioneel af te ronden. Met jouw bijdrage kunnen we extra muzikale bijdragen realiseren, de productie volledig afronden, investeren in promotie en distributie, artwork en Kirsten ondersteunen met zakelijke coaching. Zo kan zij haar focus houden waar die nu het hardst nodig is en waar ze het beste in is: muziek maken.
Het project wordt intussen niet alleen gedragen door fans en supporters, maar ook ondersteund door merken die de missie omarmen. Kirsten is brand partnerships aangegaan met Coloplast en La Moda Drachten, en krijgt sponsoring van Aminda Fotografie, en andere vrijwilligers, die haar helpen om haar verhaal breder uit te dragen en het project op een duurzame manier te laten groeien.

Kirsten Alting is a singer and songwriter with an honest, powerful sound that speaks to the heart. Her debut album brought her a #1 hit on the American gospel charts, a spot in the Top 10 of emerging artists in the USA, and a Silver Dove Award nomination in the Netherlands.
After years of silence, she now returns with her most personal project to date: Tell It Like It Is – an album that tells her story through music.
Due to a rare connective tissue disorder, Kirsten lost her voice and was bedridden for years. Doctors believed she would never sing again. But against all medical expectations, she began to recover. Not a full cure – the illness is still part of her daily life – but enough strength to sing, walk, work, and perform again.
Today, Kirsten is once again active as an artist – sometimes performing in a wheelchair, sometimes walking, but always with her loyal assistance dog Bindi by her side. She’s scheduled to appear at several festivals, and in October, she’ll be touring the Netherlands with her own band.
Her first album was pure country. With this second album, Kirsten adds new layers to her sound, and the musical quality is truly next level. Tell It Like It Is is a unique blend of country, bluegrass, and Irish folk. The songs speak of hope, resilience, faith, and recovery – music that not only moves people but also connects them across borders.
The album’s first single, Time for Me to Fly, is already being played on radio stations around the world. The project is produced by NEO Music, a respected name in the country and music industry, and features contributions from top musicians like Gordon Mote – known for his work with Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, and Rascal Flatts – who also collaborated with Kirsten on her earlier single Unlikelies, which reached number 1. Acclaimed fiddle player Wanda Vick has also joined the project, known for her work with artists like Taylor Swift, Kenny Rogers, and Faith Hill – musicians who have made their mark in Nashville and beyond.
Tell It Like It Is is more than a music project. It’s the beginning of a global movement. Kirsten wants to bring music to places where it’s needed most: hospitals, care facilities, closed wards, and even directly into people’s homes. She knows what it’s like to be in those places – the silence, the uncertainty – and how powerful music can be in those moments. With this album, she wants to give that power back to others. She also hopes to inspire people living with disabilities to keep chasing their dreams – not despite their limitations, but through them.
Recording is already underway. The album will be released – the goal is early 2026 – but there’s still €3000 needed to complete it on time and with the professional quality it deserves. Your support will help us bring in additional musical contributions, complete the production process, invest in promotion and distribution, develop the artwork, and provide Kirsten with business coaching. This way, she can focus fully on what she does best: creating music with meaning.
