Umm Al-Khair Revitalization Initiative

Umm Al-Khair Revitalization Initiative
Village Comrades Umm Al-Khair

Fundraising project to support vulnerable families in Umm Al-Khair village within the West-Bank.

We are a group of five international visitors who
spent several days in Umm Al-Khair village,
witnessing firsthand the daily struggles of its
residents. During our stay, we participated in
protective presence, and stood in solidarity
with the villagers during an incident of violence
by Israeli settlers. Moved by their resilience, we
decided to launch this fundraising project to help
them face the upcoming winter with better
resources.
The funds will be used to provide essential items
such as food, firewood, medical supplies, baby care
products,  and materials for shelter repairs.
Your generous support will directly improve the
lives of Palestinian Bedouins who continue to
suffer under the pressure of illegal Israeli settlements.

About the Umm Al-Khair Village

Umm Al-Khair is a small Bedouin village in the
West Bank, Palestine. The villagers have resided
on this land since the first Nakba in 1948, preserving
their Bedouin traditions. However, they are currently
living under relentless pressure from the settlements
built directly on their land. Life here is marked by
constant demolitions, settler harassment, and the
absence of basic services such as health care.
Families live without protection, subject to nightly
raids, vandalism, and property destruction.

This past summer, the village endured an unbearable
loss. Awdah, a husband, father of three, activist,
and community leader from Um Al-Khair, was shot and
killed by a settler. His death was not random—it was
part of the daily scrutiny and oppression that
Palestinians in Um Al-Khair live under. What makes
it even more painful is that the settler responsible,
Yinon Levi, faced no consequences. He continues to
torment the community— just two weeks ago, he cut
the electricity and water lines to the village, leaving
families without power or running water for four days.
In Um Al-Khair, and throughout the South Hebron Hills,
this kind of impunity has become the norm. Settler
attacks go unpunished, while families grieve in silence,
carrying the heavy knowledge that their lives are treated
as expendable.

Awdah’s death is not only the loss of a beloved son,
brother, and friend; it is also a symbol of the daily
dangers the people of Umm Al-Khair endure.
Children here grow up knowing that violence can
come at any moment, and that the world often looks
away. Parents live with the unbearable fear of losing
more loved ones to the same impunity.

Yet, even in the face of this injustice, Umm Al-Khair
refuses to be erased. Its families remain rooted on
their land, determined to preserve their traditions
and build a better future. This fundraising project
supports their survival and dignity: strengthening
protective presence to deter harassment, providing
access to health and emergency services,
and funding sustainable community development
projects.

How The Money Will Be Used

This fundraising project aims to support vulnerable
families in Umm Al-Khair village by covering essential
needs over a four-month period in the winter period
(from December 2025 to March 2026). The budget
includes firewood for heating, monthly food baskets,
and critical supplies for infants (powder milk and
diapers) and medical items for the elderly. In addition,
it will also cover costs to repair their shelters,
especially water facilities and electricity, ensuring safe
and functional living conditions. You will see the details of
the budget below.

By contributing, you are not only helping
Um Al-Khair endure— you are helping to honor
Awdah’s memory and resist a system that normalizes
such losses. Your support sends a message: that the
people of Um Al-Khair are not alone, and that their lives matter.
