As you know, I regularly volunteer at Hope Shelter on the Polish-Ukrainian border. See https://steunactie.be/actie/michel-gaat-met-een-busje-naar-oekraine/

More than three years after the large scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the flow of refugees into Poland has decreased significantly. In response, all but one of the short term shelters in Przemyśl have been closed. However, refugees continue to cross the border, and this will not change as long as the war continues.

The only option for refugees arriving in Przemyśl who need shelter for a few nights is the Hope Shelter, which has a capacity of 40. Without this option, refugees will likely have to sleep on the streets or in the station building again, as was common in March 2022.

Hope Shelter is now fighting for its survival as winter approaches. Hope Foundation founder Jacek and volunteers Katya, Erbse, Don, Richard and Viktoria at Hope Shelter continue to work hard to provide shelter, meals, warmth, and assistance with the next steps of their journey.

Hope Shelter is run entirely by volunteers and has no paid staff. All funds are used to cover rent, electricity, water, and coal, ensuring the shelter's warmth, both literally and figuratively. Fortunately, food and hygiene products are often provided through donations, but this isn't always guaranteed.

From November 2022 to September 2025, Hope Shelter sheltered more than 20,000 Ukrainian refugees and provided 60,000 meals.

It's clear that Hope Shelter has already helped many Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war, but now needs your help to continue providing this vital assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
