UPDATE MAY 2026: 

In 2024, many kind people helped us during one of the hardest periods of our lives. Thanks to that support, and years of hard work, we continued paying off our debts and reduced them from over €100,000 to just over €24,000.

We truly believed the end was in sight.

Last week my husband was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's. At the same time, one of our remaining creditors went bankrupt, and the liquidator is now demanding immediate payment of €12,080.

We have spent five years doing everything we could to take responsibility for our situation. We are not looking for a fresh start or an easy way out. We are simply trying to keep our home.

Alzheimer's has a way of changing your perspective. Suddenly, what matters most is time. 

Time together while he still recognizes me, our family, our memories, and the life we built. For someone living with Alzheimer's, familiar surroundings provide stability, routine, and comfort. Home is one of the few things that can still help make sense of a world that gradually becomes more confusing.

We are asking for help with this final hurdle, so we can spend the years we have left together in the place he still knows as home.

Update DEC 2024

Thanks to a single incredibly generous donor, our debt with the Belastingdienst was paid in full.

This support allowed us to continue our repayment plans with our remaining creditors and gave us hope that we would eventually overcome the financial consequences of losing our businesses during COVID.

We remain deeply grateful for this kindness and wanted to make sure that everyone who supported us knows that their help truly made a difference.
