Beste familie, vrienden, kennissen en iedereen die gelooft in de kracht van verhalen,
Mijn pen naam is Rhude Maya - The Son of the Soil, schrijver van The Legacy of Vieux Maya – The Luck Seeker.
Na jaren van onderzoek, schrijven, herschrijven en verfijnen staat het manuscript van mijn boek inmiddels vrijwel volledig klaar voor publicatie. Het is voor mij meer geworden dan alleen een boek. Het is een persoonlijk en intellectueel project waarin geschiedenis, geopolitiek, Afrikaanse soevereiniteit, natuurlijke rijkdommen, energie, diplomatie en economische ontwikkeling samenkomen.
Het verhaal kijkt vanuit Congo naar het verleden, maar vooral ook naar de toekomst.
Waarom dit boek?
De Democratische Republiek Congo beschikt over enorme natuurlijke rijkdommen en een strategische positie binnen Afrika en de wereld. Tegelijkertijd wordt de geschiedenis van Congo vaak verteld vanuit het perspectief van anderen.
Met The Legacy of Vieux Maya – The Luck Seeker wil ik een ander perspectief aanbieden.
Het boek stelt vragen als:
Wat als Congo zijn natuurlijke rijkdommen en strategische positie volledig zou inzetten voor zijn eigen bevolking?
Wat als Afrikaanse landen niet uitsluitend als grondstoffenleveranciers worden gezien, maar als zelfstandige economische en geopolitieke spelers?
Hoe kan Congo een toekomst bouwen waarin kennis, technologie, energie, ecologie, diplomatie en economische ontwikkeling elkaar versterken?
Het boek is geen poging om de geschiedenis opnieuw te vertellen zonder kritiek. Het is een uitnodiging om na te denken over wat er mogelijk wordt wanneer Afrikaanse samenlevingen hun eigen toekomst steeds meer zelf definiëren.
Waarom heb ik ondersteuning nodig?
Het manuscript is inmiddels ver gevorderd in het publicatieproces. De resterende kosten voor de uiteindelijke publicatie en zichtbaarheid van het boek zijn echter aanzienlijk.
Op basis van de huidige offertes gaat het om ongeveer €3.220 voor onder andere copyrightregistratie en aanvullende internationale publiciteits- en distributiewerkzaamheden.
Voor mij is dit op dit moment een aanzienlijk bedrag. Ik wil het boek graag professioneel publiceren, maar mijn huidige financiële situatie betekent dat het bijeenbrengen van dit bedrag zonder ondersteuning enkele maanden kan duren.
Daarom vraag ik nu niet om een investering in mij als persoon, maar om steun voor een boek en een idee dat ik graag met een groter publiek wil delen.
Waar wordt jouw bijdrage voor gebruikt?
De bijdragen zullen worden gebruikt voor:
- copyrightregistratie en bescherming van het manuscript;
- professionele publicatie en distributie;
- internationale zichtbaarheid van het boek;
- pers- en media-aandacht;

My pen name is Rhude Maya - The Son of the Soil, author of The Legacy of Vieux Maya – The Luck Seeker.
After years of research, writing, rewriting, and refining, the manuscript is now approaching the final stage of its publishing journey.
For me, this book has become much more than a manuscript. It is a personal and intellectual project that brings together history, geopolitics, African sovereignty, natural resources, energy, diplomacy, and socioeconomic development.
The story looks at Congo's past, but its primary question is about the future.
Why this book?
The Democratic Republic of Congo possesses extraordinary natural resources and occupies a strategically important position in Africa and the world. Yet Congo's story has too often been told through the perspectives and interests of others.
With The Legacy of Vieux Maya – The Luck Seeker, I want to contribute another perspective.
The book asks questions such as:
What if Congo fully leveraged its natural resources and strategic position for the benefit of its own people?
What if African nations were recognized not merely as suppliers of raw materials, but as independent economic and geopolitical actors?
How could Congo build a future in which knowledge, technology, energy, ecology, diplomacy, and economic development reinforce one another?
This book is not an attempt to simplify history or ignore its complexities. It is an invitation to think about what becomes possible when African societies increasingly define their own future.
Why am I asking for support?
The manuscript has already progressed significantly through the publishing process. However, the remaining costs associated with bringing the book fully to publication and increasing its visibility are substantial.
Based on the current publishing and promotional requirements, I am working toward approximately €3,220 in remaining costs, including copyright registration and additional international publicity and distribution services.
For me, this is a significant amount. Under my current financial circumstances, raising the full amount independently could take several months and potentially delay the publication of the book.
