Sails for Trees
Sails for Trees; have 7 trees planted per mile Vincent sails to return a total of 105 000 trees back to the planet!
The World (www.clipperroundtheworld.com).
Vincent takes on the challenge of his life by being part of a sailing race around the world. The organization that makes this possible is called Clipper Round The World (www.clipperroundtheworld.com). Vincent will sail 2 legs; leg 1 is from Portsmouth (UK) to Punta del Este in Uruguay and leg 6 is from Qingdao (China) to the west coast of America; both legs add up to a total of 15 000 nautical miles. Vincent wants this life-enriching experience to be special not only for him but also for the local people of Nepal. He does this by investing the money raised for the planting of trees by the local population. Where in the past this population went into the forests to cut down trees, they now go into these forests to plant new trees. In this way we contribute to poverty reduction, an increase in biodiversity, a reduction in temperature through reforestation and a reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere. Eden Reforestation Projects is the global organization that makes these large reforestation projects possible (www.edenprojects.org). This action is carried out by the Prosperity Community (www.greatbusiness.nl/prosperitycommunity), partner of Eden. Vincent is member of the Prosperity Community.
