Waarom deze actie ?

Franck Otete is een Congolese arts die omwille van zijn moedig verzet tegen de ondervoeding in zijn land door het regime als reactionair en opposant werd beschouwd en vervolgd. Tijdens een vergadering van de actiegroep viel het leger binnen en diende hij hals over kop te vluchten. Hij verblijft nu sinds enkele jaren in België. Na een tergend lange poging zijn artsendiploma te laten homologeren kreeg hij na 4 jaar !!! dit ontgoochelende verdict: uw diploma wordt gelijkgesteld met ” BACHELOR IN DE MEDISCHE WETENSCHAPPEN”.

Daarmee werden zijn masterdiploma en zijn jaren ervaring gedegradeerd tot een getuigschrift dat geen enkele toegang geeft tot enig gereglementeerd zorgberoep. Dat betekent dat hij noch als verpleegkundige , noch als zorgkundige aan het werk kan. Het is voor Franck en zijn kinderen noodzakelijk dat hij zo snel mogelijk een waardig Masterdiploma behaalt.

Met deze actie willen we Franck de kans geven een internationale Master in de “Slaapgeneeskunde (somnologie)” te behalen. Dit is bovendien de branche die hem het meest boeit. Dit kan met een tweejarige opleiding aan de universiteit van Bern. (zie link onderaan).

Dit is een unieke kans die hij niet mag laten liggen. Maar dit kan enkel met de nodige financiële steun.

Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat we met velen dit bedrag kunnen inzamelen. We geloven dat velen solidair willen zijn met deze moedige man en hem graag willen steunen.

Franck Otete Djamba behaalde het diploma “doctor in de geneeskunde” aan de universiteit van Lubumbashi (Congo). Hij werkte er als geneeskundige en was tevens geëngageerd in een groep die de strijd tegen de zware ondervoeding bij kinderen aanging en het regime daarvoor verantwoordelijk stelde. Dit werd door het regime als een act van rebellie aanzien. Franck en zijn vrienden kregen het label ‘opposant en ‘gevaarlijk’.

Tijdens een vergadering van de groep viel het leger binnen en kon Franck bij mirakel ontsnappen en de dag nadien een vlucht naar België nemen. Enkele van zijn vrienden werden opgepakt en kregen jaren gevangenis. Een terugkeer van Franck naar Congo was uitgesloten. Tot op vandaag is het gevaarlijk.

De logge, ontgoochelende weg naar homologatie.

Het kostte hem 3 jaar om zijn diploma’s vanuit Congo te kunnen recupereren. Daarna begon de tergend langzame en ontgoochelende weg van de homologatie. Franck volgde in alles de gereglementeerde weg in de hoop snel antwoord te krijgen. Pas na 2 jaar !!! kreeg hij het verdict: Uw diploma wordt gelijkgeschakeld met ‘Bachelor in de medische wetenschappen’.

Vermits hij in die twee jaar in België al heel wat vormingen had gevolgd (voornamelijk in de slaaptherapie) ging hij met de behaalde attesten in beroep tegen deze uitspraak. Het duurde alweer 2 jaar !!! alvorens de nieuwe uitspraak kwam. Deze uitspraak was net dezelfde als de eerste: ‘Bachelor in de medische wetenschappen’.
Dit getuigschrift geeft geen enkele toegang tot enig gereglementeerd zorgberoep. Dus op de vraag of hij – uit financiële noodzaak - ergens aan de slag kon als verpleegkundige, als hulp in het ziekenhuis, als zorgkundige of als zorgverstrekker in een woonzorgcentrum was het antwoord telkens : "Neen !”
Begrijpe wie het begrijpen kan, wij niet.

Gevolg

Restten hier en daar kleine tijdelijke en slecht betaalde jobs. Maar Franck is intelligent en vooral fier en wil voor zijn kinderen het beste. Iedereen zal begrijpen dat een intelligente arts op zoek gaat naar een job in zijn branche of een mogelijkheid zoekt om snel een masterdiploma te halen.

Een unieke kans.

Die mogelijkheid krijgt hij nu, na lang zoeken, aan de faculteit geneeskunde in Bern. (klik op de link onderaan)

Met het volgen van 2 jaar intensief afstandsonderwijs kan Franck er een ‘internationaal masterdiploma in de slaapgeneeskunde’ behalen. Dit is een unieke gerenommeerde opleiding. Met dat getuigschrift op zak heeft hij een grote kans een waardevolle job te vinden. Wij willen dat hij die kans grijpt.

Een laatste hindernis: de financiën.

Rest een groot probleem : de betaling van het grote bedrag van

Dit is een bedrag dat Franck onmogelijk zelf kan betalen. Wonende in Brussel met zijn 2 kinderen dient hij met een kleine uitkering de eindjes aan elkaar te knopen. Dat lukt soms net, vaak ook niet.

Pourquoi cette action ? (En bref)

Franck Otete est un médecin congolais qui, en raison de son opposition courageuse à la malnutrition dans son pays, a été considéré par le régime comme un réactionnaire et un opposant et persécuté. Franck a du fuire son pays. Il réside maintenant en Belgique depuis plusieurs années. Après une longue et pénible tentative pour faire approuver son diplôme de médecine, il a reçu, au bout de 4 ans, ce verdict décevant : votre diplôme équivaut à un « BACHELOR EN SCIENCE MÉDICALE ».

Cela a relégué son master et ses années d'expérience à un certificat qui ne lui donne accès à aucune profession de santé réglementée. Cela signifie qu'il ne peut travailler ni comme infirmier, ni comme aide-soignant. Il est impératif pour Franck et ses enfants qu'il obtienne au plus vite un master digne de ce nom.

Par cette action, nous voulons donner à Franck la possibilité d'obtenir un Master international en « Médecine du sommeil (somnologie) ». C'est d'ailleurs le secteur qui l'intéresse le plus. Cela peut se faire en suivant un cours de deux ans à l'Université de Berne. (voir le lien ci-dessous).

Il s'agit d'une opportunité unique qu'il ne devrait pas manquer. Mais cela n'est possible qu'avec le soutien financier nécessaire.

Nous sommes convaincus qu'ensemble nous pouvons collecter cette somme. On ose vous demander d'être solidaire avec cet homme courageux et de le soutenir.

Franck Otete Djamba a obtenu un diplôme de « docteur en médecine » à l'université de Lubumbashi (Congo). Il y travaille comme médecin et s'engage également dans un groupe qui lutte contre la malnutrition sévère des enfants et en rend responsable le régime. Cette action était considérée comme un acte de rébellion par le régime. Franck et ses amis ont été qualifiés d'oppositionnels et de «dangereux ».

Lors d'une réunion du groupe, l'armée a envahi les lieux et, par miracle, Franck a pu s'échapper et prendre un vol pour la Belgique le lendemain. Certains de ses amis ont été arrêtés et condamnés à des années de prison. Un retour de Franck au Congo était hors de question. Aujourd'hui encore ce n'est pas sans danger.

Le chemin de l'homologation est lourd et décevant.

Il lui a fallu 3 ans pour récupérer ses diplômes congolais. Commence alors le parcours lent et décevant de l'homologation. Franck a suivi la voie réglementaire en tout point, espérant obtenir une réponse rapide. Ce n'est qu'au bout de 2 ans! qu' il reçoit le verdict : Votre diplôme est équivalent à « Bachelor of Medical Sciences ».

Comme il avait déjà suivi de nombreuses formations en Belgique pendant ces deux années (principalement en thérapie du sommeil), il a fait appel de cette décision avec les certificats qu'il avait obtenus. Il a fallu attendre encore deux ans ! !! avant que la nouvelle décision ne soit rendue. Cette décision était identique à la première : « Bachelor of Medical Sciences ». Ce certificat ne donne accès à aucune profession de santé réglementée. Ainsi, lorsqu'il demandait - par nécessité financière - s'il pouvait travailler quelque part comme infirmier, comme auxiliaire hospitalier, comme aide-soignant ou comme aide-soignant dans une maison de repos, la réponse était toujours : “Non ! ”

Résultat

Des petits boulots temporaires et mal payés subsistent ici et là. Mais Franck est intelligent et surtout fier et veut le meilleur pour ses enfants. Tout le monde comprendra qu'un médecin intelligent cherche un emploi dans son secteur ou cherche une opportunité pour obtenir rapidement un master.

Une occasion unique.

Aujourd'hui il obtient , après une longue recherche, cette opportunité à la Faculté de médecine de Berne. (cliquez sur le lien en bas de la page)

En suivant deux années d'enseignement intensif à distance, Franck peut y obtenir un « master international en médecine du sommeil ». Il s'agit d'une formation à la renommée unique. Avec ce certificat en poche, il a de grandes chances de trouver un emploi intéressant. Nous voulons qu'il saisisse cette opportunité.

Dernier obstacle : les finances.

Il reste un problème de taille : payer la somme importante de 20 000 euros pour les deux années. (cfr.link)

Une somme que Franck ne peut pas payer lui-même. Vivant à Bruxelles avec ses deux enfants, il doit se contenter d'une petite allocation qui est parfois insuffisante.

Why this action?

Franck Otete is a Congolese doctor who, because of his courageous opposition to malnutrition in his country, was considered a reactionary opposisionist by the regime and therefore persecuted. During a meeting of the action group, the army invaded and he had to flee hastily.

He is now residing in Belgium for several years. After an excruciatingly slow an long attempt to have his medical degree approved, he received this disappointing verdict after 4 years !!!: your degree is equivalent to a ‘BACHELOR IN MEDICAL SCIENCE’.

This relegated his master's degree and years of experience to a certificate that gives no access to any regulated healthcare profession. That means he can neither work as a nurse , nor as a healthcare professional. It is imperative for Franck and his children that he obtain a dignified Master's degree as soon as possible.

With this action, we want to give Franck the opportunity to obtain an international Master's degree in ‘Sleep medicine (somnology)’. Moreover, this is the speciality that interests him most. This can be done with a two-year course at the University of Bern. (see link below).

This is a unique opportunity he should not miss. But this can only be done with the necessary financial support.

Franck Otete Djamba obtained a ‘doctor of medicine’ degree from the University of Lubumbashi (Congo). He worked there as a medical doctor and was also committed to a group that fought against severe malnutrition among children and held the regime responsible. This was considered an act of rebellion by the regime. Franck and his friends were labelled ‘oppositional’ and ‘dangerous’.

During a meeting of the group, the army invaded and, by miracle, Franck was able to escape and take a flight to Belgium the following day. Some of his friends were arrested and suffered years in prison. A return of Franck to Congo was out of the question. To this day, it is dangerous.

The long and disappointing road to homologation.

It took him 3 years to recover his diplomas from Congo. Then began the slow and disappointing road to homologation. Franck followed the regulated path in everything, hoping to get a quick answer. Only after 2 years !!! did he receive the disappointing verdict: Your degree is equivalent to ‘Bachelor of Medical Sciences’.

Since he had already taken many training courses in Belgium during those two years (mainly in sleep therapy), he appealed against this ruling with the certificates he had obtained. It took another two years !!! before the new ruling came. This result was just the same as the first one: ‘Bachelor of Medical Sciences’.

This certificate does not give any access to any regulated healthcare profession. So when he asked - out of financial necessity - whether he could work somewhere as a nurse, as a hospital auxiliary, as a care assistant or as a caregiver in a residential care centre, the answer was always: ‘No!’
Result.

Small temporary and poorly paid jobs remained here and there. But Franck is intelligent and above all proud and wants the best for his children. Everyone will understand that an intelligent doctor looks for a job in his industry or seeks an opportunity to get a master's degree quickly.

A unique opportunity.

By attending 2 years of intensive distance learning, Franck can obtain an ‘international master's degree in sleep medicine’ there. This is a uniquely renowned degree programme. With that certificate in his pocket, he has a great chance of finding a valuable job. We want him to seize that opportunity.

One last hurdle: finances.

It is impossible for Franck to pay this amount himself. Living in Brussels with his two children, he has to make ends meet on a small allowance. Sometimes he just barely manages, often not.
