Jambo, my name is Josfaith Wanjiru. I am a single mum of 39 years old and live in the suburbs of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

I was lucky to follow secondary education in Kenya but upon completion, during the certification party, I was brutally raped. As a result, I became pregnant and mother of a wonderful son who is now 19……

I was forced to live together with the father of my son in the village as is custom in our country, but life was unbearable.

All over, life during that time has not been easy and my rapist tried even to kill me when I threatened to separate from him. During one night I escaped together with baby Willy and managed to reach the capital Nairobi. Through various low paying ‘jobs’ I managed to survive with my son. As I can barely survive, I am not able to pay the costs of further education for Willy.

With the help of Dutch well-wishers who used to live and work in Kenya, my son and I managed to survive. I was able to safe some money for our current small house. Willy went to primary school. He also completed secondary education and more recently he completed a computer training as preparation for further education. He is bright and is highly motivated to follow further education.

Willy has now shown keen interest in further technical education and he has been admitted to the Craft Certificate level in Motor Vehicle Mechanics-Automotive Technology of the Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology of the Ministry of Roads and Transportation.

Once Willy will have completed the 2 years training, he will be able to find a suitable job for himself. This job will allow him to look after himself while also supporting me his mum as is custom in our country.

Your donation will contribute to the school fees for Willy’s further education for the next 2 years.

The total costs, including required materials is 2500 EURO for the period of 2 years. Spending of your donation is done through supervision of the Dutch well-wishers who are now retired; they also started this steunactie for me.

Help Willy uit Nairobi, Kenia, om zijn toekomst op te bouwen!

Jambo, mijn naam is Josfaith Wanjiru. Ik ben een alleenstaande moeder van 39 jaar en woon in de buitenwijken van Nairobi, de hoofdstad van Kenia.
Ik had het geluk om middelbaar onderwijs in Kenia te volgen, maar na afronding, tijdens het certificeringsfeest, werd ik op brute wijze verkracht. Als gevolg hiervan werd ik zwanger en moeder van een geweldige zoon die nu 19 is......
Ik was genoodzaakt om samen te wonen met de vader van mijn zoon in het dorp, zoals gebruikelijk is in ons land, maar het leven was ondraaglijk.
Over het algemeen is het leven in die tijd niet gemakkelijk geweest en mijn verkrachter probeerde me zelfs te vermoorden toen ik dreigde van hem te scheiden. Tijdens een nacht ontsnapte ik samen met baby Willy en wist ik de hoofdstad Nairobi te bereiken. Door verschillende laagbetaalde 'baantjes' wist ik samen met mijn zoon te overleven. Omdat ik ternauwernood kan overleven, kan ik de kosten van een vervolgopleiding voor Willy niet betalen.
Met de hulp van Nederlandse weldoeners die vroeger in Kenia woonden hebben mijn zoon en ik het gered. Ik heb wat geld kunnen sparen voor onze huidige kleine woning. Verder ging Willy naar de lagere school. Hij heeft ook de middelbare school afgerond en meer recent heeft hij een computeropleiding afgerond als voorbereiding op een vervolgopleidin. Hij is slim en zeer gemotiveerd om een vervolgopleiding te volgen. Willy heeft nu grote interesse getoond in verdere technische opleidingen en hij is toegelaten tot het Craft Certificate-niveau in Motor Vehicle Mechanics-Automotive Technology van het Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology van het Ministerie van Wegen en Transport. Zodra Willy de 2-jarige opleiding heeft afgerond, kan hij een passende baan vinden. Deze baan stelt hem in staat om voor zichzelf te zorgen en tegelijkertijd mij te ondersteunen, zoals gebruikelijk is in ons land. Uw donatie draagt bij aan het schoolgeld voor Willy's vervolgopleiding voor de komende 2 jaar. De totale kosten, inclusief benodigde materialen bedragen 2500 EURO voor de periode van 2 jaar. De besteding van uw donatie gebeurt onder toezicht van de Nederlandse weldoeners die inmiddels met pensioen zijn; zij hebben ook deze steunactie voor mij opgezet.
