Trump-free 250 Charity Bake Sale
Indivisible NL and Comité Trumpvrij are fundraising for mutual aid for families affected by ICE immigration raids in the US.
Join Indivisible NL and Comité Trumpvrij for Trump-free 250 in Amsterdam!
We are celebrating America's 250th birthday by protesting the Trump-era sh*tshow with fun, satire, and free speech. The US has always been a nation of immigrants, whose diverse cultures, languages, music, and food have all contributed to the ‘melting pot’ so many of us love. But the Trump administration has subjected immigrant communities to more violence, injustice, and cruelty than ever before.
We are having a bake sale to raise money for three US charities supporting families affected by ICE immigration raids. What’s more American than processed sugar, satire, and free speech?
We will split all proceeds of the bake sale evenly among these charities:
- The National Immigration Law Center: established in 1979, the NILC is one of the leading advocacy organizations in the U.S. dedicated to advancing and defending the rights and opportunities of low-income immigrants and their loved ones.
- Each Step Home, which provides funds to those detained in ICE's Dilley Family Detention Center in TX for food, water, and supplies at the commissary store, phone calls to family and lawyers, etc.
- Food4NJ, which provides groceries to families experiencing food insecurity when they visit loved ones at ICE's Delaney Hall facility in NJ, where hundreds of detainees recently went on a hunger strike to protest the terrible conditions.
We will be joined by US filmmaker and artist Taran Singh Brar, behind the viral inflatable ‘Trump Chicken’ installation outside the White House in 2017. He will be making the Dutch debut of his latest piece: a six-meter tall inflatable chicken called “Shitshow Don”, complete with a typical Trump toupee inspired by the president's affinity for AI slop and geopolitical messes.
