WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT ?
All the financial support will be for the girls who in war time in Kyiv rehearse often several times a week to bring the best concerts possible under the present circumstances; they are amateurs and some financial reward for them will be so much appreciated by them;
The Melody Girls work with a senior and a junior conductor who stayed in Kyiv.
In order to get the best musicians to accompany the choir and to make the concerts possible, financial support is necessary: for piano, cello and saxophone;
The concerts will need some publicity and although this will be partly free, some support is needed.

THE MELODY GIRLS OF UKRAINE
We, The Melody Girls of Ukraine, are for over 13 years already a pop choir of 12 amateur girls, who love to sing and to reach the highest level possible.
Originally, we were a student choir but now we have a bigger diversity.
In our You tube videos you can see how we sing and how our concerts look like. We used to give concerts on a regular basis in Kyiv and have made trips to Holland and Great Britain.
On You tube we have been viewed for more than 130.000 times, which shows how much interest there is in what we do and we are proud of this.
And even now every day we get a lot of new views.
We have built the Melody Girls into something special and we were getting better more and more until COVID came to be followed by the war that now already continues for such a long time.
Not only our lives and the lives of our families and friends are upside down, but also our possibility to sing and be together has been limited very much. and especially music is something to give some consult in these times.
We want to go on and want to live.
Also, we want to help Ukraine as much as we can and continue our live as much as possible and show the world we are still there and still make the music we love. And that we still study, still have work and still rehearse.
Some of us are now outside of Ukraine ( 3 ) and majority of us is in Kyiv ( 9 plus conductor and piano player) and with the help of zoom we are all present at our rehearsals in a simple class room in Kyiv, where we have to bring our own electric piano. As the last rehearsals of the Melody Girls have been in 2019 we have now several new girls in our choir. But certainly, our quality did not go down.
Just before the war started we very in the middle of organizing our next international trip and this time again to Great Britain. But this time we were looking forward to unique concerts in Liverpool where we would play in the Cavern ( the famous Beatle cave ) and we were looking for a large male choir as we always like this combination.
We are excited that we managed to go to Liverpool and have two concerts in The Cavern ( Friday 22 September and Saturday 23 September 2023) and do this partly together with Jay Murray, the perfect Beatle music singer who plays every week in The Cavern. We looking forward to this very much and thank the management of The Cavern for what they do for us.
Also, we will have an evening with a big male Choir and sing our songs next to them singing their songs and as always, we sing a few songs together.
We probably will also have a concert with a brass band as that fits so well with our music.
We gave concerts with a big male choir a few years ago as is shown on one of our videos and all participants loved it and thought it was really unique.
OUR MUSIC
In the beginning we were singing top classical hits from mainly the sixties; songs with a strong melody and supported by piano, cello and saxophone;
Over the years our choir developed more and more our own style. With our own unique arrangements, we managed to play the songs at a pace that is perfect for us and that is often just a bit faster than the original version. Also, strong piano and polyphonic voices are important to us to make the songs as entertaining as possible. Since a few years we have several songs with solo or duet singers and make sure the romantic atmosphere is always there.
In other words, the songs of the Melody Girls ( now around 50) show our identity.

THE TRIP
The Great Britain Trip 2023 will be from Saturday 16 September till Sunday 24 September 2023 and concert places will be in Mid England and in Liverpool.
The Liverpool concerts will take place in The Cavern on Friday and Saturday and the concerts with the male choir will be mid-week and will be published as soon as they are fixed.
As some of the girls live now abroad, extra rehearsals in England have to take place before the official concerts can be given.
The total group consists of 20 persons and the lodgings will be as much as possible with individual families. This is an unique way for the girls to learn to know an English family and the hosts learn inside and personal stories about Ukraine and its present situation.
From Kyiv it takes around 24 hours to get to an airport in England as the train connection from Kyiv goes slow and the Polish - Ukrainian border takes hours and hours waiting time. The girls do it with pleasure.
We will be happy to send all our hosts and those who support us a video of the trip, with the highlights and of course: music.

The trip to Great Britain is organized and booked and the concerts are fixed. Although it is a substantial organization to arrange everything ( including for instance visa) for 20 persons, everything is ready for the start of the trip.
The quality of the music and the total impression the girls will make and the amount of visitors to the concerts depends partly on your financial support.
The pleasure for the girls to receive some financial surprise after so hard work depends fully on your support.
